DARIUS

“First question.” I take the knife she tried using on me and drag the tip up the inside seam of her leg. The little gasp escaping her lips makes my cock jerk.

“Our pretty little captive,” I tease.

I start at the calf and make my way slowly to the edge of her skirt. I could slice these stockings off her and fuck her into answering every single question we have. But we have time and I want to see how she operates under pressure.

She’s skittish yet when pushed she shows the fighter inside her. That’s a point in her favor. I want to see how far she will go to protect herself. She will pull weapons without hesitating. I like that about her and she had no intention of backing down when she had me cornered in the hallway. No other woman has ever done that. Shit. No man, either. I usually put a bullet in their forehead before they have time to pin me down, but this one walked up to me and started slicing.

“Wait!” Fear dances over her expression but I’m about to be an utter bastard.

“Too late. We made the deal.”

She slams her fist on the table, all that fear morphing into ire. A true redhead in every sense. I can’t wait until all that brown fades so we can see the real her.

“I want to renegotiate. I get through all six answers and you untie me.” Her panicked gaze tracks Augustine and then Victor.

I slowly lean my weight onto the table. “No, baby. Now, I get to go first. I want a straight answer. Give it to me and I might reward you. Where have you been for the last year?” I lift the edge of her skirt. Fuck. Garter belts. She’s going to be the death of my willpower.

She stiffens and looks like she wants to bite my head off and throw it into a ravine, but that’s not happening with her tied up.

Vi and Augustine look at me like I’ve lost my mind. We have one goal here—find out who took out the hit on my father. I’ll get to that but I need to know who put that fear in her eyes so I can send them to an unmarked grave. My father is already dead. And has fucked up and cold as it sounds, he can wait. We’ve already paid his debts. The cold-seated revenge I’m after won’t diminish if I take a day to figure out why I’m so drawn to a young woman half my age. She’s beautiful. Gorgeous, even. But there’s more to her that speaks to me. That is the part I want to peel back one layer at a time until I get to the core of what makes her tick.
